Todd Ellis is a data scientist with a background in biogeography, fire ecology, and higher education. They've worked in a wide variety of laboratory and field settings across the United States and Australia. They have over a decade of experience developing novel mathematical tools and statistical models; maintaining relational databases and statistical packages; managing and training staff, students, and volunteers; and managing complex and critical projects for government and industry.

They are currently completing their PhD at the University of Tasmania, having previously studied at Texas State University (BSc., 2012) and Western Washington University (MSc., 2016) in the United States. Their employment background features positions with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the United States Forest Service, Oregon State University, the University of Texas at Austin, and Apple, Inc. They currently work as a research associate in physical pyrogeography at the University of Tasmania.
